Game Night

We get together once a month for Game Night with our friends, The Balls and Quicks. I finally remembered my camera to catch a few fun shots to share.

We always have dinner and center it around some sort of theme. Last night we had breakfast foods, everything from cereal to breakfast burritos and omelets. Next month is our turn to host and everyone is going to bring different kinds of soup. It's been a blast having these game nights and we really look forward to them each month. It's nice because between the 3 of our families we each have a 4 year old son so our boys are all the same age. The Quicks have another son that will be 1 year old soon and the Balls have a 3 year old daughter and a almost 2 year old son.

Here's the guys with their turn on the Wii. We played hasbro games like sorry, yatzhee, boggle, etc. on the Wii this time.
The Boys!
It's the girls turn to play now. I was having a hard time with this game. I think we were playing boggle and I couldn't find any words. :)

Riding Bikes at the Park

We went over to the Trinity Trails Park today and rode our bikes along the river. It's beautiful here today and after the week of rain we've had we were excited to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.

Having fun riding through some puddles.

Water Break!
We came up on some wakeboarders doing some tricks today. Joshua loved this.

Playing on the playground before we left.

God of This City by Chris Tomlin

This week's emphasis here at the school has been on missions and the song from the video above has been our theme song. It's been a powerful week listening to testimonies of how God is using people here and around the world. My greatest desire is that through me people will be pointed to Christ. I am nothing on my own and there is no way I could be the wife, mother, or person that I am without the Spirit of God living in me. Everyday I thank God for the love I can show to my husband, son, family, and friends because He has first loved me. My life is dedicated to Christ and just as the testimony has been for others this week: I will go and serve the Lord wherever He calls us to. Whether that be here, in S.C. or somewhere beyond the borders of the United States. I will follow Christ and trust Him. I know that with Rodney being here in Seminary pursuing the calling of God on his life that the Lord is preparing us for something bigger than ourselves and I'm excited to follow His Will and do what it is He is preparing for us.

Joshua's First Dentist Appointment

Joshua was very excited to go to the Dentist today however, once he actually got back to see the dentist he wasn't so excited anymore. I think seeing all the big equipment scared him and he was just very unsure about what was going on. We had talked to him about it and had showed him pictures of the dentist office but seeing it with his own little eyes was a lot different.

He did end up doing very well and letting the dentist look at his teeth and let the dental assistant clean them. He told the dental assistant when she was brushing his teeth that she was going too fast and needed to slow down. (haha) So, she slowed down for him and he told her, "that's much better." He's so funny and is not afraid to tell you what he thinks or wants.

The Dentist said his teeth looked great and that he had no cavities!! YAY!

Some things to think about . . .

I'm reading a book right now by Beth Moore that is really challenging me and deepening my faith. Here are some quotes from the book that have meant a lot to me.

"God is not just a firm place to stand. He's a firm place to stay."

"That's how God is about you. He's firm. He's loyal. He made up His mind about you before the foundation of the world. Regardless of who has betrayed you and what promises they didn't keep, God is firm in His commitment to you. Circumstances don't cause Him to rethink His position."

"God is unreasonably patient and merciful. He's there for every urgent need and any sudden spell, but an emergency room relationship with God is not the psalmist's idea of a firm place to stand. He's not a divine drive-thru drugstore. He is not just a temporary fix in an urgent situation, a fast way to get everyone to forgive us, or a good side to get on when we need Him to save our scrawny necks. God can hold your weight - the full emotional, spiritual, mental, and physcial poundage of you - sixty seconds a minute, sixty minutes an hours, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year for the rest of your life."

"The ground beneath our feet will be only as firm as our resolve."

taken from: Get Out of That Pit by Beth Moore

I hope these statements speak to you as much as they have to me. Walking with Christ trumps every other part of life because without Him none of it means anything but with Him I find my purpose in every single area of my simple life.

Joshua's Room: All Done!

When my mother-in-law visited last month she helped us spruce up Joshua's room with fun storage stuff from IKEA. It's made such a huge difference for him. He likes playing in his room now because everything is organized and not cluttered like it was before. And, the colors are awesome and fun!! And, of course living in Seminary housing right now we need all the storage we can get.

Thanks Nana!! We really appreciate you doing this for us and Joshua!

Joshua even has his own fun chair now! He likes to shut the cover and take a book and flashlight in there and read. SOOOO CUTE!
