We're Here!!

YEA!!! We are officially in S.C.!!

We had a very easy, pretty uneventful trip. Except for Friday night about 2 hours before we had made it to the hotel we were staying in. I had a battle with car sickness. OH MY WORD!!! It was awful! I got so sick. YUCKY!!

But, we are here now and doing great. Joshua did WONDERFUL on the trip here. As long as he had a DVD going or some toys to play with he was absolutely fine. It's really not a bad trip. It takes forever to get where you're going but it's not bad.

It feels so good being back in S.C. though. It's nice seeing familiar sites and family.

I'll try to update my blog while we are here, but I can't make any promises because I'm going to be off having a good time, swimmming, relaxing, going to movies, hanging out with friends, etc. etc. etc..... :)

5 Days

and counting..... We leave Friday afternoon for SOUTH CAROLINA!!! We are so excited but OH MY WORD... I've got TONS of work to get done before we can go. It's going to be a crazy, busy week! It's going to be so good just to get to go home and see all of our family. Being so far away from them is tough, but it never really HITS me until I see them after being away for so long. When my mother in law came to visit in March I was fighting back tears the whole time when I first saw her in the airport. It's like so much emotion from the time away just builds up and when I finally see them it all comes out. So, hopefully I won't be an emotional MESS when I see all of them. They might think I've lost my marbles in Texas if that happens. (haha)

I have to share some exciting news. I had interviewed to be an officer for a women's group on campus called Metochai and guess what... I GOT IT!! YEA!! I'm so excited. I'll be the Family Ministry Coordinator and be able to be a part of serving the great ladies here at Southwestern. I am just so excited about how God is going to use me in this position.

Well, I'm off to get some of this WORK done... :) Talk to ya soon!

By Faith...

"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going." Hebrews 11:8

"One of the difficulties in Christian work is this question - "What do you expect to do?" You do not know what you are going to do; the only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing." (Oswald Chambers)

I have found this to be a very true, reliable thing in my walk with Christ. I am constantly learning to walk by faith and not by sight in all things. God ways are not our own and to the world they very rarely make sense. Even though it's difficult at times to do this I believe we would miss out on so many things God has for us if we didn't walk and live this way. God is faithful and when He leads us into the unknown we can trust him wholeheartedly.

As I look back over the course of my life and see how things have come about I know that it has been the hand of God that has kept me grounded and sane through it all. Through every move, every change, every obstacle God has guided me through it and brought about his purposes for my life.

Moving to Texas last year was such a huge thing for me and Rodney. There were so many unknowns with coming here, but at the same time we knew that if we didn't move that we would miss out on something great God has in store for us. As I look back over the past 6 months that we've been here I see his faithfulness and I see how He has confirmed in our hearts that we are right where He wants us. And, to me it is worth far more than anything else just knowing that I'm in God's will for my life. I know that He is smiling down on us and that is proud of us for standing strong and following him into the unknown. So much of it is still unknown, like how long we will be here, what we will do after we leave here and on and on and on. But, the one thing that will always be a constant and known thing is that God is guiding us and is faithful to provide all we need. And that surpasses everything else. So, yes people may ask us why we are here and what we are doing and to some extent we really don't know. But, the one thing I can tell them is that I'm simply following God's plan for my life and He's never let me down before so it's what I'm going to do.

My Utmost for His Highest

I've read through this devotional a few times but always like to go back and read through the powerful words and insight of Oswald Chambers.

Oswald Chambers (1874-1917) was a prominent early twentieth century Scottish Protestant Christian minister and teacher, best known as the author of the widely-read devotional My Utmost for His Highest. The thing I find most fasicinating about Chambers is that he did not find satisfaction in Christianity, finding the Bible 'dull' and uninspiring. After four years of spiritual dryness, Chambers realized that he couldn't force himself to be holy. Once he realized that the strength and peace he was looking for was Christ himself, Christ's life in exchange for his sin, he experienced great renewal so much so that he described it as an unspeakable emancipation. (http://www.ccel.org/c/chambers/)

In his devotional he says, "Shut out every other consideration and keep yourself before God for this one thing only - My Utmost for His Highest. I am determined to be absolutely and entirely for Him and for Him alone."

May this one thing be the testimony of my life. That through all things I give my utmost for His Highest! To God be the glory for He has done great things. My part is to give Him the praise that is due Him through the way I live my life.

Chambers was so right on when he said that satisfaction is not found in Christianity. It's found in the person of Jesus Christ! He is our source of satisfaction and life everlasting. It is Christ himself who loves us, comforts us, provides for us, sustains us, lifts us up.. not religion! And, once we finally get ourselves to the point of not only believing this but living it; it will truly change our lives forever and in everything we say and do we will want to bring glory to God and praise Him for all He has done for us.

A Great Mother's Day

Mother's Day is such a special day for me and it just gets sweeter every year. I have the most wonderful son and I thank God for him every single day of my life. I can't put into words how wonderful and blessed I feel to have Joshua as my son. He lights up every part of my world and brings me and Rodney so much joy and happiness. He's a gift from God.

This mother's day was so sweet and surprising. Joshua gave me a gift basket with all my favorite lotions and perfumes in it and with daddy's help he signed me up for a contest at church. The contest was for a $150 gift card to a local spa and to my surprise in the random drawing this morning at church they called my name. WOW!! I was so shocked!! I LOVE going to the spa every now and then and I'm so looking forward to going soon!

My poor little Joshua is actually sick today too. :( He's been laying around on the couch watching movies all day today and won't let mommy get very far away from him. :) (I like that part) He's wanted to stay cuddled up with me all day today and keeps requesting songs he wants me to sing to him. :)

Well, I'm going to go cuddle back up with my little boy.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

South Carolina or bust....

I am sooooo excited!! We are headed to good ol' SC at the end of this month. I can't wait to get there and see everybody and just be "home." I'm definitely wanting to go to a few of the restraunts that I MISS so much!! Lizards Thicket is HIGH on that list, baby!! :)Good ol' country cooking and SWEET TEA!! I mean, how in the world do people live without sweet tea. It drives me nuts that restraunts don't serve it here in Texas. (hehe)

Well, I had to share my excitement with you all!! Talk to you soon!

More Weekend Fun

Joshua loved shooting the water in the air and letting it fall back down in his face.

Then, he decided it would be fun to put his face over the water gun and shoot the water up in his face.

More ottoman fun!

Time to clean up after a weekend of fun! :)

Saturday Morning

Well, so far our weekend has been wonderful! Joshua has become a PRO on his new big boy bike. We've had that bike for like a month and he would not touch it and then all of a sudden he got up this morning and wanted to ride it. And, he's great at it. Enjoy the pictues of our Saturday Morning!

"Hey Dude"

Joshua has a new phrase that he likes to say. It's "hey dude." We went through the drivethru at Chic-fil-a tonight and Joshua had his window down so when we pulled up to get our food Joshua yells out the window "HEY DUDE!" We went to Target after that and he's was saying "HEY DUDE" to everybody he saw. Oh my word, that child is so funny!

Well, I just thought I'd share that little bit of cute joshua information with you. Have a great weekend!
