Silly Girls At Work

Here's some pictures of me and the girls at work. Yesterday was one of the professor's birthday and one the guys had an idea to replace all his family pictures in his office with pictures of US so we went outside and had a little "photo shoot". When the professor came in he noticed right off what we had done and thought it was hilarious!!! He said he was going to leave the pictures up so he could show his girls what we did. :) We probably replaced like 15 pictures in his office with pictures of us. But, these are just a few that I thought I'd share since "yours truly" is in them. (haha)

just a few things...

It's almost the weekend!! HOT DOG! :) I've been in a very unsettled mood this week. It's been so weird. I've rearranged every room in my house since last weekend. I did the kitchen, the bedrooms, and the living room. I'd rearrange the bathrooms if I could, but those items seem to be a little permanent. (haha) I guess I've just needed a change. I think I'm finally satisfied with how it all looks now. I finished last night by rearranging Joshua's room. And, he loves it because now he can sit on his bed and watch TV. I guess it's the little things that count the most, right? :) He got up this morning and I couldn't get him to leave his room. He said, "i not go to school today, I play my room." So, I interpret that to mean "good job mommy, my room looks like a lot of fun now."

We're going through two new phases with Joshua right now. We're teaching him how to dress and undress himself. I've just been doing it for him, because come on, we all know we don't want our babies to grow up and not need our help. :) So, this is actually a big deal to me. He's doing great with it, but as I watch my little man grow up it just breaks my heart. I'm one that believes our culture forces our kids to grow up WAY TOO FAST and I want Joshua to enjoy his childhood and get the most out of it without feeling like he has to "grow up" fast. He's only 3 years old, but beacuse he looks older than he is sometimes people expect him to act older. But, he's still my baby (and always will be). He is the most precious thing that has ever happened to me. When he looks up at me with those big cute eyes and those cute little dimples I just melt. Back to the undressing and dressing himself part, he's so funny with it because he knows that mommy will do it for him so he tries to play me sometimes with it. He'll look at me and say, "mommy, i just too tired. you do it for me, please." AWWEEEEE... isn't that CUTE!!! But, mommy is learning that she needs to let Joshua do it himself. And, after he does he's always so proud of himself and so am I. He's such a wonderful son!

Bummed Out

We had decided that we would go to the pool last night but when we walked outside it had gotten very cloudy and windy and looked like it might rain. We didn't hear thunder or see lightening so we figured we would go ahead and go the pool. Joshua was sooooo excited!!! He couldn't wait to go swimming. Well, when we got to the RAC, they said someone had saw lightening and that they had just closed the pool. Needless to say, my son was NOT HAPPY!!! and neither was mommy. It NEVER did anything last night. There was no rain, no storm.. NOTHING! So, since Joshua was VERY upset me and Rodney had to figure out something fun to do QUICKLY! We went back home and got out some games and stuff we haven't played in a while and PRAISE THE LORD it calmed Joshua down. I was thinking we were going to have to endure a very moody child the rest of the evening, but he did really good and after he calmed down we were able to explain why they closed the pool and he understood.

WHEW!!! Another battle won! :)

It's Monday!

Well, it's Monday and back to work for me. :( We had such a nice weekend. We didn't do much at all. We just hung around and enjoyed some nice quiet family time. We're still trying to potty train Joshua so we had him run around naked this weekend. I figured if I could get him used to the "oh, i have to go potty" feeling then I can go from there and use big boy underwear. So, we'll see how that goes. We're going to try some big boy underwear tonight and see how he does. I know it's just a process of him learning to go, so we've just got to be patient with him.

It's been so HOT here. This weekend was just miserably hot! You walk outside and it literally takes your breathe away. So, we've been hanging out in the house and over at the pool.

We watched some of the Olympic trials this weekend and when we were watching the gymnastics Joshua jumped up and said I want to do that. So, him and his little naked butt jumped up and did all the little hand motions that the gymnast do before they do their jumps and then he would turn a flip on the floor. He was so cute doing his little routine. Then, everytime he would finish his "routine" he would run over to me and give me this great big hug and he would say, "it's hug time." I asked him why we had hug time and he said it was because the people on TV had hug time. He's so observant. Everytime the gymnast would finish they would go give their coaches a hug, so Joshua just thought that he should do that too. He's sooooo funny and of course, I totally enjoyed hug time. :)

So, tonight I guess it's back to the pool and then we'll go home and have some fun there too.

Wonderful loonnngggg weekend

I love LONG weekends! It's so nice being home with Rodney and Joshua and not having to do a darn thing. :) I kept thinking today was Saturday all day today! And, it's so nice to know it's not and I still have TWO whole days to relax and be at home with my family. I'm totally loving this.

Well, I'm off to continue enjoying my long weekend! Catch ya later!

Take To Heart

There is no safer place to be in a dangerous or difficult situation than at the feet of Jesus.

Updated

Ok, well I think I'm done updating my blog. I may do a few things here and there but for the most part the colors and design are good to go. :) I needed a change of color. The pink was starting to get old.

Well, that's about it for now. Back to work for me.

Blog Update

I'm changing my blog background and colors so that's why my blog doesn't quite match up right now. Hopefully I will get it all done soon. :) I'm trying to figure all this out on my own so I can make sure I know how to do it.

Falling in love with my Savior

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior." (Isaiah 43:2-3)

I absolutely love this book I'm reading right now by Beth Moore. The words just leap off the page and become my very own prayer and worship to God.

"Intimacy with God grows through sharing every realm of experience. I've wept bitterly with Him. I've screamed in frustration. Sometimes I thought He was going to break my heart in two. But I've also laughed out loud with Him. Wept with unspeakable joy. Left the chair and gone to my knees in awe, Squealed with excitement. I have been to every extreme and back with God. But if I had to define my relationship with Him by one general statement, I would tell you that He is the absolute joy of my life. I don't just love Him. I love loving Him. Surrendering my heart to Him has not been a sacrifice. I don't know any other way to say it: He works for me." (Beth Moore, Breaking Free)

There is no other way to say it but DITTO to all of the above!! My heart and soul resounds these exact words. God has been with me through it all. He has been consistent, comforting, loving, understanding, and has never once turned his back on me. And, that is why I can't help but falling more and more in love with Him.

Update on US

Here's a little update on how we're all doing here in HOT Texas! Oh my word, the heat is crazzzzyyyyy! We've gotten into the habit of going home after work and school, putting our bathing suits on and heading over to the RAC to go swimming. The recreational center on campus has a huge indoor swimming pool and it's been so nice to just go over there and relax after a long day. It's not even 3 minutes away from our house so that makes it even better. And, of course Joshua absolutely loves it. We can't tell him we're going until after he eats his dinner because he won't eat if we tell him ahead of time. He's getting so much better with his swimming and has gotten over his fear of the water. He's going to take swim lessons in August at the YMCA. I can't wait to see how much he learns.

Rodney finished up one of his summer classes today and begins his next class on the 7th. Then he'll have about a 2 week break before fall classes start and he's taking 16credit hours then. He's going to be very busy!

Work is still going really good for me. I've been extremely busy so far this summer. But, it's good because I like to keep moving so the day goes by faster. :) I'm still doing weight watchers and have lost 11.6 pounds so far. So, I'm very excited about that. I have clothes that are too big for me now, which is just totally awesome!

Joshua is doing great! He's into EVERYTHING, of course. His little 3 year old body doesn't slow down until his head hits the pillow every night. He's back into racing and those big monster jam trucks. He's definitely a little boy all the way through. :)

Well, I'll be in touch! Love ya'll!
